As we get closer to the date of Jennifer Baskerville-Burrows’ ordination as the 11th Bishop of Indianapolis on April 29, we need your help! An event like this doesn’t happen without the help of a lot of volunteers and that is a way you can be personally involved in the big day.

Peggy will be maintaining a master list of volunteers to make sure we have everything covered. As a general point of housekeeping, all volunteers will need to report to Clowes Hall at or near 8:30 a.m. on April 29.
We want to display your parish banner at this celebration! Parish banners will be displayed in the main lobby of Clowes Hall. We hope to have representation from every parish in the Diocese so get that banner cleaned and pressed and have someone bring it (and a stand) to the ordination!
There are many different groups that will be processing for this celebratory event. At the head of each group, we will need vergers (11), thurifers (4), crucifers (11) and torch bearers (22). If you perform any of these tasks at your own parish, you are qualified! Each person will need to bring their “tools” for the task – a processional crucifix, torches, etc. AND a stand for each item. After the processional, these items will be backstage and we don’t want anything laying on the floor or leaning against a wall where they might fall. You will also need to bring your own vestments.
All parish choir members are invited to sing with the choir at the ordination. Michael Boney, Director of Music at Christ Church Cathedral; Brad Hughley, Director of Music at St. Paul’s Indianapolis; and Michael Messina, Director of Music at Trinity Indianapolis, have been working with Jennifer Baskerville-Burrows to select music for the service. We hope that singers from all corners of the Diocese will participate as the Consecration Choir for this historic event!
The choir will rehearse at Clowes Hall on Friday, April 28, 7-9 p.m. and will warm up and rehearse on Saturday, April 29 at 8:30 a.m. Singers should plan to attend both rehearsals.

If you are interested in singing, please contact Michael Messina at email@example.com or 317-926-1346 by April 1. Let him know how many from your church will be singing and their voice parts so that a balanced group can be put together.
It is estimated that we will need 36 ushers to make sure everyone gets seated in a timely manner. We will also need assistance from the ushers at Communion.
We will need 6 Sacristans Friday (time to be determined) to assist in getting the stage turned into a sacred space. Another 6 will be needed on Saturday to set up for the Eucharist and to take down and clean up afterwards.

There will be 20 Communion stations at various locations throughout Clowes Hall. At each station, we will need assistance from all of you!
